Muon flavour physics with the MEG experiment

Presented by Prof. Donato NICOLO on 24 May 2023 from 15:10 to 15:30
Session: Parallel 12

Content

MEG at Paul Scherrer Institut has resumed data taking with an upgraded detector for the phase 2 of the experiment. The main objective is to achieve a sentivity to the branching ratio of mu->e+gamma decay at the level of 5*10^{-14}, one order of magnitude below the current upper limit. Beside that, sensitive searches to other Charged Lepton Flavour violating channels in muon decays will be operated to significatly improve former limits and constrain the space of parameters allowed for theoretical models of new Physics. The state of art of the experiment will be reviewed, with some emphasis on how new detector performances will allow us to reach our sensitivity goal.
